How to Remove Geo-location Consent
You can remove permission for your mobile device to share your geo-location with Upnaija by adjusting your device settings.
To turn off location access on an iPhone or iPad:
- Tap on your device's Settings app
- Tap Privacy
- Tap Location Services
- Scroll down to the Upnaija app
- Select Never
To turn off location access on an Android device:
- Tap on your device's Settings
- Tap Location
- Tap App access to location
- Select the Upnaija app
- Select ‘Don’t allow‘ under ‘Location access for this app‘
Removing Consent to Process Other Sensitive Personal Information
You can generally remove content you choose to share on Upnaija and edit certain content. Information on editing preferences (e.g., “kosher” or “halal”) can be found in your account settings.
Opting Out of Targeted Advertising
Upnaija may use data collected about your activity to serve you ads off Upnaija. To opt-out, follow these steps:

- Go to Account Settings or tap More, then Settings on the Upnaija app
- Go to Privacy Settings
- Scroll down to ‘Ads Displayed off Upnaija‘
- For app users, select ‘No‘. For website users, uncheck ‘Allow Upnaija to target ads on other sites‘
Manage Ad Tracking Cookies
For logged-out users, opt-out of targeted advertising by disabling ad targeting cookies in Upnaija’s Privacy Policy under “Manage Cookies”.
Manage Mobile App Preferences (iOS and Android)
